The annual campaign to raise awareness of hypoglycaemia in the UK and Ireland by educating healthcare professionals will take place between September 30 and October 6 2019.
Although it has a heavy focus on “health” providers, Oliver (the organiser) is keen for care providers to get involved as to raise the awareness of hypoglycaemia benefits both the care givers (their confidence in understanding and how to treat) as well as those people at potential risk of experiencing a hypoglycaemic event (an experience to be avoided).
The resources available can support homes to improve understanding amongst staff, residents and families. By making it inclusive, fun and informative care providers can potentially improve awareness; perhaps resulting in the avoidance or reduction of hypos, or recognising and dealing with a hypo more confidently. We would therefore encourage providers to register and run some activities / events throughout the week.
