SUFFOLK CARE AWARDS 2021 – SHINING A LIGHT ON THE CARE SECTOR

The past 12 months have been unprecedented in terms of the challenges facing industry and society as a whole. All of us have been affected in some way by the COVID-19 pandemic which has forced us to adopt new ways of living and working.

It’s been particularly challenging for those operating in the Health & Social Care Sector as Christian Bone, Chief Executive of Care Development East explains.

“Staff in all types of care settings have seen first-hand the devastating impact of COVID 19 on residents, families and their colleagues. However even in such challenging times, we have seen countless examples of carers going ‘above and beyond’ to provide the best levels of support.”

It’s against these background that Care Development East are launching the 2021 Suffolk Care Awards to recognise and celebrate the work of carers and the local communities that have supported them.

Nominations open from 14th June onwards and the organisers hope to see a high level of entries from across the sector this year. Following judging, presentations will be made at a high-profile awards ceremony at Wherstead Park on 11th November hosted by Shaun Williamson, the actor, singer and comedian best known for his role as Barry in Eastenders.

Suffolk County Council are this year’s headline sponsor and they are particularly keen that the hard work put in by carers in all settings is recognised as Cllr. Beccy Hopfensperger, Cabinet member with responsibility for adult social care explains:

“Suffolk Care Awards 2021 will be a great chance to shine a light on the sector and promote the positive work that has taken place over the last 12 months. We hope as many care organisations as possible will take the opportunity to enter and participate in this year’s event.”
