This event is aimed at care providers supporting people with a learning disability. It is anticipated that this learning will then be cascaded within organisations so that all staff become adept at using the tools preventing the premature deaths of people with a learning disability.
The RESTORE2™ tool was designed to support homes and health professionals to recognise when the person they are caring for may be deteriorating or at risk of physical deterioration. It requires taking a complete set of physical observations to inform escalation. In settings where it isn’t possible to take clinical observations, the RESTORE2™ Mini is used. RESTORE2™ Mini is a ‘soft signs’ only version of the RESTORE2™ tool. It is a printable A5-size guide developed to help detect soft signs of deterioration in residents, facilitating earlier treatment and avoiding unnecessary transfers to hospital. The guide will also support conversations with GP and ambulance services.
