Funding for Direct Employers and Personal Assistants
Skills for Care has a separate funding stream for people who employ their own Personal Assistants.
This is open to those that receive direct payment from their local authority, a personal health budget (PHB) or use their own money to employ their own care and support staff. You can apply for this funding to cover the cost of care-related training for yourself and your personal assistant (PA).
The fund can be used for training to develop the skills of Direct Employers and to develop the skills of their PAs. The fund can cover the direct costs of training and qualifications, travel and the cost of hiring replacement support whilst their usual PA is attending training.
