Chronicle Digital Storytelling Ltd Releases Press Statement on Groundbreaking Research into Audio Storytelling for Older People

John Royle, Director and Founder of Chronicle Digital Storytelling Ltd, expressed gratitude and humility at the findings, noting that the results reaffirm the value of preserving and sharing personal life stories to support quality care and human connection.

Chronicle Digital Storytelling Ltd is pleased to share the results of a six-month research project conducted in collaboration with the University of Suffolk, exploring the impact of audio storytelling in care settings. The study focused on the use of Snapshot Memory Boxes—personalised audio recordings featuring the voices of loved ones—as a means of supporting older people in care, including those living with dementia, as well as individuals at risk of social isolation and loneliness.

The research delivered outcomes that exceeded expectations, demonstrating a significant positive impact not only on the recipients of the audio recordings, but also on their families, friends, and care professionals. Participants reported enhanced emotional wellbeing, improved feelings of connection, and a greater sense of identity and comfort from hearing familiar voices and stories.

John Royle, Director and Founder of Chronicle Digital Storytelling Ltd, expressed gratitude and humility at the findings, noting that the results reaffirm the value of preserving and sharing personal life stories to support quality care and human connection.

Chronicle is now looking to expand the application of this work to further benefit the wellbeing of older people in various care environments. The organisation welcomes enquiries from individuals and organisations who may be interested in supporting or adopting this approach.
