International Nurses’ Day: Chief nurses pay special tribute to profession
The UK’s most senior nurses have highlighted the “extraordinary” efforts and contributions made by members of the nursing profession, in a special tribute to colleagues on International Nurses’ Day 2022.
The four chief nursing officers (CNOs) for England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland have today passed on their thanks to nurses who they recognised have endured “incredible challenges” and “very difficult” times during the past few years amid Covid-19.
Their tributes, exclusive to Nursing Times, are to mark International Nurses’ Day, held annually on 12 May – the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale – to celebrate the profession across the globe.
It is led by the International Council of Nurses and this year carries the theme of: “Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Invest in nursing and respect rights to secure global health”.
