Reflecting on the incredible progress demonstrated by the Suffolk Care Awards 2023
A word from Christian Bone, CEO at Care Development East
As we gathered at the elegant Milsoms in Kesgrave, it was abundantly clear that this prestigious event was more than just an awards ceremony; it was a celebration of dedication, unity, and a shared commitment to providing outstanding care provisions throughout Suffolk.
With a record-breaking number of nominations and nine categories celebrated, the night was a true testament to the growing prominence of the care industry in our local community.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors for championing the progression of the care industry and helping us recognise those who truly go the extra mile. Your support is instrumental in celebrating achievements and acknowledging new categories and issues at the heart of the industry.
A few words from our sponsors
Headline Sponsors were Suffolk County Council, and Councillor Beccy Hopfensperger, Suffolk County Council’s Cabinet member for Adult Care said “These awards provide a unique opportunity to showcase the remarkable contributions of care professionals and organisations that make a real difference in the lives of our residents. We are proud to stand alongside them in celebrating their achievements.”
Prema Fairburn, Chair of SCA, who sponsored Team of the Year and End of Life sponsors said, “These are the most crucial awards in terms of how care organisations are run, you have to have a good team that pulls together well in order to be successful in achieving outcomes. This then benefits clients and residents. It is difficult to get a team that gels so well and that buys into the principles and values of the organisation.”
Ashtons Legal, sponsors of the Inspirational Leader awards said: “At Ashtons Legal we like to support the communities in which our staff live, work and have their families. We work with people of all ages, many of our clients are elderly and we visit many care homes and see the wonderful work carers and staff do for their residents, so, by sponsoring the inspirational leader awards, we can give those people recognition for their hard work and determination.”
Matt Gunns, Christie’s Care, sponsors of the Ambassador of the year awards said “The care industry is so tough, even tougher after covid, so those that stay within the industry truly deserve recognition. It is a sector like no other – the selflessness of the people who work in this industry is unmatched.”
Michelle Pollard, Spider, sponsors of the Professional Development Award said “As an organisation deeply committed to the growth and advancement of individuals this sponsorship perfectly aligns with our values. At a time when the care industry is undergoing rapid transformation, fostering professional development is more crucial than ever.”
A note from me
The awards serve as an annual platform to showcase the progress and innovation within the Suffolk care industry. This year, hosted by Dr. Sabina Brennan, resonated with a profound sense of unity and purpose. It was an occasion where we came together to celebrate the exceptional individuals and organisations that leave an indelible mark on the lives of those they serve. I personally, feld exceptional pride and even overwhelmed at the great strides made, particularly given the pressure and challenges presented by the pandemic and its aftermath.
This year was particularly special as we introduced three new award categories, recognising Health and Wellbeing, Equality and Diversity, and Ambassador of the Year. These additions truly represent our commitment to fostering positive change and inclusivity within the industry.
