As the local authority for the county, their ongoing support demonstrates a deep commitment to recognising and uplifting the incredible work of Suffolk’s care sector. This year, they’re also sponsoring an exciting new category: ‘Empowering People through Person-Centred Approaches’ an award introduced and chosen by Suffolk County Council to highlight care that truly puts people at the heart of support, enabling greater independence and quality of life. In this Sponsor Spotlight, we hear from Suffolk County Council on why they continue to lead from the front in celebrating care, what inspires them most about the awards, and why now is the time for everyone to stand behind social care in Suffolk.
1. Tell us a bit about your organisation.
Suffolk County Council is the local authority for the county of Suffolk, headquartered in Ipswich. We are responsible for delivering a wide range of essential public services, including Adult Social Care, Children’s Services, Education, Fire and Rescue, Highways and Transport, Public Rights of Way, and the Registrars and Coroners Service. With an annual budget of £803.7 million—of which £370.7 million is allocated to Adult Social Care—we are a politically led organisation with 75 elected councillors representing communities across Suffolk.
2. Why did you choose to sponsor the Suffolk Care Awards 2025?
Suffolk County Council has long supported the Suffolk Care Awards, and as the local authority responsible for Adult Social Care, we believe it’s essential to recognise and celebrate the outstanding work happening across our communities. We understand the complex challenges facing the care sector, but we also see the incredible dedication and compassion providers show every day to ensure people live fulfilling, independent lives. Sponsoring the awards is our way of saying “thank you”—not just to the winners, but to every care provider in Suffolk making a difference.
3. What do you enjoy most about being involved with the Care Awards?
We’re inspired by the powerful stories of everyday care and the positive impact being made across the county. Whether it’s a team or individual going above and beyond, or a new provider making their first mark in the sector, it’s heartening to see the real difference that great social care can bring to people’s lives.
4. Why do you think it’s important for others to get involved in the Suffolk Care Awards?
In Suffolk people are living for longer, this is a great thing, but it also brings challenges we must face together. Adult Social Care is a cornerstone of our local economy—1 in every 17 jobs in Suffolk is linked to care and support. We know people thrive when they have greater control over their care and can remain connected to their communities. That’s why it’s vital for everyone to support the social care sector—and the Suffolk Care Awards are a perfect way to do just that. It’s a chance to collectively celebrate the dedication, compassion, and professionalism shown by those who care for others every day.
