Suffolk New College sponsors new award at Suffolk Care Awards

Suffolk New College is a multi-award-winning education provider that offers a diverse range of career-focused courses across multiple campuses in the county. Recently, the College has made significant investments in health and care facilities with the launch of its new Health Science Campus. This state-of-the-art facility reinforces the College’s commitment to providing exceptional education and training experiences, supporting both learners and the wider community.

At Suffolk New College, we offer a range of pathways into the Health & Care sector, including Level 1,2,3 and T Level qualifications for 16–19-year-old learners and a range of Care Certificate and bespoke learning offers for adults.

Learners can receive a firm grounding in a variety of health and social care professions, discovering the diversity of occupational areas and settings, including their requirements and provisions to work with people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

The College has long-established partnerships with local employers and the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, which feed into the curriculum design and enables real-industry placements for learners. The Apollo project is supporting those work placements, allowing learners of all ages and backgrounds to experience multiple areas of health and social care and biomedical science and to convert their experience into a career pathway and employment. We also run regular sector-based career inspiration events to enable learners to make informed decisions about their futures.

We believe that developing young people’s aspirations and work readiness will strengthen our health and care workforce and ensure our local communities are supported to live healthy lives and receive person-centred care.

Lee Mandley, Director of Services Industries and Science at Suffolk New College, remarked: ‘Suffolk New College are delighted to sponsor the Suffolk Care Awards. We are incredibly passionate about care and the future of the Health and Social Care industries both regionally and nationally. With a goal to provide an exceptional learner experience to all students, none less so than our Health & Social Care students, we have been blown away by the support from a huge variety of employers who have been willing to take students on placement, support the development of, and contribute to, our curriculum to ensure that we are aware and able to deliver the most up to date workforce needs and address skills shortages.

We have been privileged to witness some truly tremendous care in organisations around Suffolk over the last few years, and it has been a pleasure to work with those organisations who have been so supportive and enthusiastic in helping us develop the care workforce of the future’

The Suffolk Care Awards are more than just a celebration of professional achievements; they are a vital platform for the public to express gratitude to those who have made a significant impact on their lives or the lives of their loved ones.
