Junior Academy 2025 Highlights

The Junior Academy returned to West Suffolk College, running from 13th to 15th August. Over the three days, 20 students aged between 10 and 15, along with their parents, took part in the programme.

On the first day of the Junior Academy, students took part in a team-building activity designed to help them get to know one another and develop their collaboration skills. They also followed the story of a young adult named Brian, exploring his journey through the health and social care system. Along the way, they learned about the wide range of roles available and how different services work together to provide effective support.

Later in the week, Eloise from Kooth visited to talk about mental health and the support available for young people aged 10 to 25. The older students also had the chance to hear from West Suffolk College and try out equipment in their state-of-the-art simulation ward. A big thank you to both Eloise and Kieran for delivering such an engaging and insightful experience.

On the final day, students heard from the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) and Suffolk’s Emergency Medical Charity (SARS), who shared the incredible work they do. Students were able to make a simulated 999 call, step inside an ambulance, and practise essential first aid skills. We were very lucky to welcome four inspiring speakers from these organisations, all of whom volunteer their time to support the SARS charity. Please consider finding out more about SARS and supporting the vital work they do.
