What does your organisation do that you would love more people to know about?
Healthii People is about far more than filling a required shift. We take the time to understand the needs of both our clients and the healthcare professionals we work with, so we can make the right match, not simply the quickest one. We pride ourselves on building genuine, long-term relationships and understanding the people behind the CV. Another service that people are surprised to hear that we can provide is to source high-quality permanent staff solutions as well as temporary.
What makes your organisation or your team special?
We are a very close-knit team, and we love what we do. You will never hear someone say " that's not my job!" We are always willing to help each other out and get involved in any tasks regardless of if it's in our job description or not.
What does social care mean to your organisation?
It means putting our clients' and, most importantly, the people they support best interests at the heart of what we do. We take time to source the right candidates, who can not only provide quality practical support, but also the emotional care, compassion and understanding that can make such a meaningful difference to someone’s life.
What do you think is special about the people who work in social care?
It takes a special kind of person to be successful in social care; they can make a genuine impact on someone's life for the better, and often under quite challenging circumstances.
Is there a particular person, experience or moment that has shaped your connection with social care?
I am often in awe of the resilience, patience and understanding our candidates demonstrate when faced with challenging circumstances. They don’t judge, they don’t lose their cool, and they don’t take things personally. Instead, they remain calm, use their experience to de-escalate difficult situations and, afterwards, reflect with genuine compassion and understanding about what the person they are supporting may be experiencing.
If you could change one misconception about social care, what would it be?
People underestimate the variety of skills required to do this sort of work. It requires much more than just practical knowledge, which can also be demanding with all the training that is required. You need to have the right amount of empathy, good communication and the ability to build trust, all while working demanding and unsociable hours. It is no walk in the park, so you must love what you do, and that's what makes the biggest difference in this industry: genuine people putting their all into a profession they love.
Why did you decide to sponsor the Suffolk Care Awards this year?
Because we believe the incredible people working across social care deserve to be recognised, celebrated and thanked for the difference they make every day.
Why did you choose to sponsor your chosen award?
Because great leadership is at the heart of great care. Behind every successful care organisation are leaders who inspire their teams, champion high standards and create an environment where people feel valued, supported and empowered to do their best work.
What does it mean to you to help recognise and celebrate people working across Suffolk's care sector?
We want to give back to those on the front line, working tirelessly and selflessly to make a genuine, positive difference to people’s lives, wellbeing and self-esteem.
What would you like to see more of in Suffolk's social care sector?
More investment and collaboration between the different care sectors.
What's one thing your team couldn't survive a working day without?
The team's motivational morning meeting, especially appreciated on a Friday, when we prepare for the busiest day of the week, with lots of last-minute cover requests for the weekend!
