Could you and your colleagues work more effectively with people affected by trauma?

Trauma can have a huge impact on people's behaviours and relationships. Understanding the impact of trauma will improve your practice and the lives of the people you care for.

Our one-day course will introduce you to what psychological trauma is, the effects it can have and why trauma-informed care is important. The course will help you consider how you could adopt a trauma-informed approach in your practice.

You will explore the impact of working with people who are traumatised and identify strategies for emotional safety and strengthening your resilience.

This course has been designed by Caroline Aldridge who is a social worker and independent trainer with more than 30 years’ of experience working with people who have experienced a range of different traumas including early trauma and traumatic bereavement. The course will be delivered by Amy Tennant, a social worker and lecturer with 20 years’ of experience working in hospitals and care settings.

This one-day course will be delivered via an interactive webinar. You will need access to the internet, a device with audio and video capacity, and a space to log-in from where you can talk freely. This course is part of the Developing Skills in Health and Social Care project, partially funded by the European Social Fund (ESF).
